Ball and roller spindles

Universal ball spindles (UBS) and universal roller spindles (URS) are designed to drive rolls of rolling mills and allow replacing outdated spindles on slip liners and spindles with cardan joints.

The use of the offered spindles provides the following advantages in comparison with analogs:

- the leading and driven parts of the hinges are reliably centered relatively to each other and have minimal gaps, which excludes wear and tear of the spindles, increases their durability (5 years or more) and rolling accuracy, reducing dynamic loads on the equipment;
- uneven rotation of the driving and driven links of the hinges is excluded;
- low friction losses in the joints ensure their high durability, energy and lubricant savings;
- complete tightness of the hinges ensures their operation in harsh operating

conditions: scale, moisture, dust;
- reduction in maintenance and repair costs;
- exclusion of the use of non-ferrous metals;
- reduction of metal consumption for the manufacture of spindles;
- increased torques ensure the transmission of specified loads with smaller dimensions of the hinge heads;
- load characteristics, as a rule, exceed the characteristics of most known structures (the ratio of the torque Mk to the cube of the outer diameter of the hinge is high, over 2000 kg / m2).

UBS spindles provide the transmission of torque in the joint using balls for loads from 2 to 1000 KNm and tilt angles up to 80.

URS spindles provide torque transmission in the hinge using barrel-shaped rollers for loads from 2 to 9000 KNm and transfer angles up to 30.

Universal ball spindles (UBS) have been operated on horizontal stands NZS-500 blooming 1300 KGMK "Krivorozhstal" since October 2004. During the year of work, the spindles were inspected twice, which showed that the spindles are in a satisfactory condition, while the service life of ordinary spindles on slip liners does not exceed 9 months.

The practice of operation in the conditions of production of KMMC "Kryvorizhstal" has proved the durability and high reliability of the spindles of this design. The cost of spindles is much lower than the cost of similar equipment from such well-known companies as VOITH, SMS, GELENK WELLENBAU, etc.
